Smart battery storage

A smart battery storage system is an intelligent energy storage solution that combines batteries, a control unit, and automated charge/discharge management. It uses data on consumption, generation, and electricity prices to optimize costs, increase the use of renewable energy sources, and provide flexibility to the grid.

In addition to backup power, a smart battery storage system can automatically respond to market signals, store cheap energy during low-price periods, and supply it back during peak demand. When integrated with photovoltaics or an energy aggregator, it can generate additional savings or income through trading flexibility and ancillary services.

A smart battery storage system is closely connected to an Energy Management System (EMS), which acts as its "brain" and controls its operation and integration with other technologies.
