Girl's Day offers a view of IT through the lens of women who are currently studying or working in the field, in positions they find not only fun, but also fulfilling. A real effort is made to show that IT is not only about coding, but that there are many specialized areas which could use more females. In addition to girls, the association also addresses parents, teachers and the general public in order to support changing the general perception of IT.
This year's theme was "We are coming back to you - directly to companies!".
Girls were invited to the FUERGY premises in Žilina, where all research and development is concentrated, including the IT department.
What did we have prepared?
First, the core of the problem with energy, where the entire cycle of carbon emissions begins, was defined and we explained how it really works in the world of energy. We also discussed sustainability and renewable energy issues as well as solutions introduced by FUERGY. This introduction to the company and IT ended with a series of "Success Stories" from our IT staff, including hardware technician Miriam, who talked a little more about where they studied, skills they have mastered, their roles at FUERGY and especially, the reasons why they would definitely not rethink the decision to join the world of IT!
After a small snack, a workshop followed where participants could try logical sequences of steps using blocks of code, which culminated in programming an original computer game.

GAME
Believe it or not, preparing a lively program for high school students is actually a piece of cake. However, during preparations, a clear mission was necessary - to prove to young women that energy and IT do not have to be boring. We believe that we succeeded.
We are already looking forward to next year’s event and thank the Aj Ty v IT association for helping to build a technologically equal society. FUERGY is convinced that thanks to events like Girl's Day, the world of IT will no longer miss out on any intelligent women.
