In a previous article, we introduced the FUERGY solution flexibility brAIn, which can fully automate the control of energy-intensive technologies and sources that have the potential for accumulation or regulation, such as heat pumps, furnaces, storage tanks and reservoirs, cooling and heating systems (HVAC), compressors, solar panels and other energy sources, as well as electric vehicles.
This software solution is an ideal choice for companies that operate such technologies or are considering their own brAIn smart battery storage, but would like to become familiar with energy management by FUERGY first.
Technology regulation as a Service is part of EaaS
With Energy as a Service, or EaaS, you don't have to be an energy expert, and you don't have to be a millionaire.
One of the ways your company can optimize its energy expenses without any upfront costs is through our solution called Technology Regulation as a Service. This includes implementation of the flexibility brAIn solution, which regulates the power consumption of energy-intensive appliances and the performance of energy sources within preset limits, so air conditioners, heat pumps, furnaces, reservoirs or compressors continue to do their job while generating net profit from the provision of non-certified ancillary services.
Although our flexibility brAIn solution is a service in its own right, it has a well-deserved place in the Energy as a Service family. Like the other solutions offered under this model, we install the flexibility brAIn for companies cost-free and hassle-free, saving or earning money from day one. Flexibility brAIn can be utilized on its own, in combination with the brAIn smart battery storage or as part of a comprehensive energy management solution.
4 conditions for acquiring the Technology regulation as a Service
Several conditions must be met to take advantage of our unique solution:
-
The first requirement is operation of an energy source or energy-intensive technology powered by electricity with the potential for accumulation or regulation, such as the abovementioned heat pumps, furnaces, storage tanks and reservoirs, heating and cooling systems (HVAC), compressors, electricity generating sources, electric vehicles and others.
-
This energy-intensive technology or energy source must offer a regulation potential greater than 20 kW. The regulation potential of a technology represents usually 10 percent of its maximum power input or output. However, it depends to a large extent on the intensity of operation of the device.
-
The company must use one of the systems through which we can link the regulated technology with our FUERGY software, for example an Energy Management System (EMS), a measurement and control system or a frequency converter
-
The company must also be a customer of one of our partner suppliers. Not every supplier supports the provision of non-certified ancillary services and it is through the energy supplier that this service is billed. If the company has another supplier, it is necessary to switch to one of our partner suppliers.
As part of the Technology Regulation as a Service solution, we offer:
- Immediate savings
- Quick implementation
- A zero-cost software solution
- An easy to use web app with online savings data
- A demonstrable reduction in CO2 emissions that can be reported in the ESG report
Technology regulation works in apartment buildings, stadiums and ironworks
We have already deployed the flexibility brAIn in several small and large projects, which achieve attractive financial effects regardless of the type of customer location. Which are worth mentioning?
Ironworks in Podbrezová
Železiarne Podbrezová is one of the largest electricity consumers in Slovakia. Our solution, brAIn flexibility, controls its arc furnace in semi-automatic mode and the small hydroelectric power plant Jasenie in fully automatic mode. The total regulation potential of these technologies is up to 37.5 megawatts.
The furnace operator can easily see in the system when and for how long it is appropriate to switch off the furnace and thus reduce electricity consumption due to a lack of electricity in the power grid. The furnace can be shut down for all or part of the proposed time interval, if possible. If switching off the oven would compromise the quality of the final product, the decision is made to simply not switch it off.
Thanks to the flexibility of brAIn and zero investment under the Energy as a Service model, Železiarne Podbrezová gained benefits such as extra profit for helping to stabilize the power grid, savings on CO2e emissions and in this case, also an overall reduction in electricity consumption.
National football stadium Tehelné pole
The flexibility brAIn is also installed in the National Football Stadium Tehelné pole, regulating water-to-water heat pumps with a maximum regulation capacity of more than 3 megawatts. Thanks to FUERGY, this stadium is rightly called the most modern and greenest stadium in Central Europe.
